I am trying to help a VN Vet with a claim. I was wondering if anyone remembers on Aug 10 1967 an APC hitting a landmine with 3KIA's. It was inverted off the side of a dike. A CH-47 came out from the 200th assault support Helicopter Comp. They hooked up to pull it up and out of the ditch to get the bodies out and they started taking small arms fire and had to unhook and get out of the area then come back. I know the 200th supported 9th ID and the 11th Cav.
Thanks,
Mil Thornton

I would like to hear from any Trooper who was involved with building or dedicating the Blackhorse Memorial in the spring-summer of 1967 (the one that stood in front of the Regimental Chapel until it was shipped to Fort Knox in 1972).

I'm an old Vietnam 2/47th Mechanized Infantry grunt and former cav trooper (6th ACR)who was frustrated I could never find any gear or memorablia for the mounted combat veterans like us who rode the ACAV's and tanks into combat. So I designed my own line. I have a separate category for the Blackhorse troopers at Mech Grunt.com. Please check it out at the web addresss above. Welcome home, brothers.

My Dad was killed at Ft Knox Ky in '73 while returning from testing night vision goggles. His aircraft went down just outside of Ft Knox taking the lives of 7 officers. He was co-pilot on the return trip. I was 10 years old at the time. If anyone remembers him, my mom or my younger sister feel free to contact me and I will see that you can get in contact with them. His name was
Clarence P. Burkett "Stoney" "Burke" "Butch". His friends were Jimmy Nunn, Frank Mayes and he liked to hang out at a bar I think in Radcliff KY. It's been so long ago I can't remember the name, sorry.

Great site. I also checked out the 11th ACR & the Blackhorse Assn. sites this week. Lots of contact info. I did connect with some buddies from my HHT, 11thACR unit from Vietnam (Bien Hoa & Blackhorse), '69-'70. We hadn't visited in decades! Shared some old photos from Nam & our R&R times. Still trying to locate some other guys now. I'm still alive & still outside of Westville, OK. in the remote Ozark Mtns.

For my cousin Joey and all those who served this country of ours. My heartful thank you. Many came home, but broken and changed for ever. Some like you Joey did not make it home. Yet all of you, gave all you had for those of us who could not or would not serve. No matter how much time passes, you are still missed as if it were yesterday. Reading this messages brings tears to my eyes. You were a kind sole. You were fun to be around. You never made me feel like a child and you always looked out for me. Still missed today and will be still missed forever. To you and all who are gone to the eternal home, thanks to you from us here. Peace to the families of those who did not make it home. :!cry: :!cry:
