Well G'day, Mark (CRIST), from 'across the pond'.

I may have been out there in early '69 in my infantry unit 4RAR. I came back to "the world" in late March. Our paths may have crossed(?) I was only in Long Binh on several brief occasions & spent the night there once, under canvas. When I heard (or thought I heard) the jingle of "Mr Whippy" playing as he toured the lines,I just knew it was time for me to be rotated home. Just not right in the head.

I'm in Was DC in November for the 30th of 'The Wall', & will hope to be at the wreath-laying of the 11ACR on the 11th. Maybe you might be there too? Take care.

FOR ALLAN WOOD: We were working with the Rome Plows east of Bien Hoain early '69. The Australians were also in the area, I took a picture of a Centurian tank. I remember them firing at night, their rounds had tracers on them, were they 105mm? Also went to the PX at Long Binh once and had an Australian APC park next to us. They had 2 machineguns in the cupola, I believe a .30 cal and an M-60.

Served with Aussie Infantry (4RAR) SE of Saigon, & remember doing some work with you guys late '68 & early '69. In fact, the cover of a book about our unit's tour, (printed in 2002) shows a joint clearing sweep of our 2 units, moving-in side by side with APC cover.
Any of you guys planning to attend the 30th anniversary of 'The Wall' in Washington DC next November. My wife & I'll be there for a week, & it'd be nice to meet-up with some of you.

Admin reply: Allan - G'day mate. We'll be at the 30th anniversary of the wall in November 2012. I'll contact you by e-mail with more information.
