My Dad was killed at Ft Knox Ky in '73 while returning from testing night vision goggles. His aircraft went down just outside of Ft Knox taking the lives of 7 officers. He was co-pilot on the return trip. I was 10 years old at the time. If anyone remembers him, my mom or my younger sister feel free to contact me and I will see that you can get in contact with them. His name was
Clarence P. Burkett "Stoney" "Burke" "Butch". His friends were Jimmy Nunn, Frank Mayes and he liked to hang out at a bar I think in Radcliff KY. It's been so long ago I can't remember the name, sorry.

Great site. I also checked out the 11th ACR & the Blackhorse Assn. sites this week. Lots of contact info. I did connect with some buddies from my HHT, 11thACR unit from Vietnam (Bien Hoa & Blackhorse), '69-'70. We hadn't visited in decades! Shared some old photos from Nam & our R&R times. Still trying to locate some other guys now. I'm still alive & still outside of Westville, OK. in the remote Ozark Mtns.

For my cousin Joey and all those who served this country of ours. My heartful thank you. Many came home, but broken and changed for ever. Some like you Joey did not make it home. Yet all of you, gave all you had for those of us who could not or would not serve. No matter how much time passes, you are still missed as if it were yesterday. Reading this messages brings tears to my eyes. You were a kind sole. You were fun to be around. You never made me feel like a child and you always looked out for me. Still missed today and will be still missed forever. To you and all who are gone to the eternal home, thanks to you from us here. Peace to the families of those who did not make it home. :!cry: :!cry:

I want to thank you so much for honoring by brother
SPEC5 Billy Ray Hunter. It is awesome. My mother passed away January 2011 she would have cried her eyes out and yet she would have been so proud of him. My brother Bob and I have his medals and ribbons in a show case but his memory is in our hearts and now mom rests with him in heaven and I know they are very happy. Thank you once again. Ada Hunter Moull and Bobby Skeens

William F. Slusser, age 69, of Stevens, succumbed peacefully to the effects of Agent Orange at home on March 1, 2012, surrounded by his loving family. A son of the late Clark F. and Ethel (Young) Slusser, and step-son of the late Gilda Slusser and Ed Kelchner, Bill loved the outdoors, including hunting, fishing, and camping in the mountains of upstate Pennsylvania. Known as “Billy” growing up, “Slush” at work and “Poppy” to his grandchildren, he enlisted in the U. S. Army in 1961 studying as a Nike Hercules missile technician at NATO nuclear warhead school, Oberammergau , Germany . After being stationed at various missile sites, he served in Vietnam 1968-70 as an 11th Black Horse Armored Calvary tank driver. He received a Purple Heart, Vietnam Service Medal & Gallantry Cross, Army Commendation Medal and a Bronze Star. He has worked for Victor Weaver, Big Dutchman, Woolworth and last, loved driving truck for Summer’s Trucking. His favorite job was being a husband, father and grandfather. Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Ruth R. (Cairl) Slusser; children, Sonya Kessler, fiancée of Troy Hawkins; Jim (Colleen Shadwell) Slusser; Gwendolynn Myers, companion of Timothy Gallaher; William “Pete” (Lucie Hill) Slusser; and Jennifer Slusser; grandchildren, Steven, Jessica, Jamie, Kenneth, Samantha, Michael, Melissa, Rachel, Regina, Gabrielle, Chayla and Alivia; great-grandchildren, Zane, Christian, Noa and an expected great-granddaughter; Aunts, Martha Bankus and Mary Sponenberg; sisters, Bertha Hamilton, Elmira, NY; Connie Reider, Salisbury, NC; Cindy (Tom) Gensel, Berkwick; and Deb (Bob) Thennis, Mifflinville; and numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Also predeceasing him were brothers in law, Jim Hamilton and Bob Reider, 2 nephews and a great-nephew.

Although Bill is no longer here in person, his family knows he’s in the heavens above looking down upon them. His memory will never fade, as they remember the kind of man he was…a hero, survivor, patriot, loving husband and proud, devoted father and grandfather.
