Comments: Allen, Thanks for the tip on the unit rosters. As I remember the event, it was a colonel who I dealt with. I thought for a long time that it was Colonel Starry. I talked to him about another matter a few years ago and thanked him for "dusting" me off. He informed me that it could not have been him since he did not fly around in a "loach".I found a picture of the bird that flew me out that one of my track mates took. It took me a while to recognize the fact that the "B" on the bird looked like an "8" because the negative had been reversed. The officer came out to see why we had lost 5 ACAV's ,an AVLB, and a Cev the day and night before. It was on our way to"Jake" on April 2,1970 . It was deemed a "sizeable force" that we had dealt with, But I have never seen the event mentioned on the calendar in spite of the fact that arty from Quan Loi, Cobras, and we [ the 919th ] inflicted 10 KIA. Col.Starry said that the 1st Cav had screwed us out of a lot of documentation [ A Troop ] during that period. I guess if it didn't happen to the mighty 1st it di not matter. It seemed like a big deal to us though. If any can add any info about that event, I'd enjoy hearing about it. Thanks.
