Comments: Ladies, I recieved a call from one of our fellow "sister" blackhorse ladies. (I hope I have this information correct) It was from Sheryl Erillo (sp?), anyway, I have been asked to have you pray for her. She is awaiting conformation from her doctor as to a diagnosis of breast cancer. Of course we all pray that she will recieve the proper medication and will come out with a clear bill of health. Barb

Comments: Dr. Joe Biden (vice-presidents wife) was on Racheal Ray today talking about what they put into a care package for soldiers overseas. She also talked about what to put in a box made up especially for our women soldiers. I hope all of you will pick up a few things for our boxes that we are doing. Happy Holidays to all of you

As you are finishing up your holiday shopping, think about purchasing a little something(s)for our fellow sisters who are serving our country in combat this year. Always Barb

Comments: Hello, It's me again, I just thought of something I hadn't thought of before. Do we have official stationary? I already have 2 churches that are willing to donate items, but I would feel a lot better if I can prove I am who I say I am. With our organizations name and address on paper, the people at stores and other places aren't gonna think I'm a conartist and just trying to scam them. Unfortunately, there are a lot of those in the world, and I don't want anyone thinking that about us. Anyway, let me know please. Thanks, Sarah
Admin reply: Sarah,
from now on whenever you have a question like this, pleasse contact me first. I hope this doesn't sound harsh as I don't mean it to. Okay? You asked who came up with this. Well it was me. I was simply surfing one day and came across their website. Sounded good to me so I called Kathy as she is my second in command and my sounding board. We both fell in love with it and decided to contact them and see what we could do with it. There are some guidelines that we do need to work with but I think if you come across a unit or so that are already deployed we can, with their approval, work with it. I am very excited about the amount of accomplishment you have attained at this time. I knew when you volunteered to help that it would get off the ground. So many times I think folks agree just so they don't get stuck doing anything really. Does that make sense. You must remember that there are some things that we simply 'cannot' do because of the way the 11th ACVVC's bylaws are written. We ARE NOT and CANNOT be an auxiliary. They did not actually even want the women to meet at all. One of the ladies told them we were going to meet anyway and they said alright as long as we were "serving" them. When she left (divorce) the presidents's wife kind of stepped in. She was hard of hearing and so I jumped in to help her (she and I are best of friends). The following year we were informed that the ladies group was going to disband and I said OVER MY DEAD BODY. I have handled it ever since, happily. So you see this is kind of my baby so to speak. I have never turned down help and don't plan to, but please talk to me before you ask some questions. Okay. I would certainly let you know if you are overstepping. Also it is important that we keep Cookie in the loop of what all you are doing (but let's do this by phone or e-mail) so she doesn't feel like she's being avoided or not wanted. Well, it's getting late and I have to head to the commissary to help out in the office for a few hours. I'm putting together their Christmas party and have some things to go over with the secretary and copy, so I think I'll hit the sack. Okay if I give you a call tomorrow or Wednesday? Barb

Comments: Ladies, I feel like I'm on cloud nine!! I never made it as far as the Post Commander. What we got was even better. I stopped into an office to find out where to go and the lady at the desk was not only x Army, she is in charge of the school systems and as soon as I told her why I wanted to see him, her exact words were, "oh my God! I always wondered if anyone ever thought of our women over there and would think of helping them somehow". She is calling the bases in the area to find out what base has a unit deployed. Also she has offered to help be OUR voice to all of her contacts, which is extensive. Much more than we could do on own own. She also has suggested I talk to managers of several stores in the area because they may be willing to donate items as well putting out a box for donations to our Angels over seas. Just buy an extra item to put in the box. How's that for hitting the ground running? We won't be able to do anything before Thanksgiving, and a slim chance before Christmas. But we are a lot closer than we were. A quick idea, don't know who suggested it, but praise them for a great idea idea that we can do, not only for ourselves, but to do something proactive for our women, that are also putting their lives at risk for our Country. I am so proud to be a member of this group of outstanding women that aren't just a selfserving group, but a group of women who really want to make a difference. And we are. Any suggestions or other ideas are appreciated. Keep 'em coming!! We are on our way to this becoming a new direction and success for our girls. As I make progress here, I'll keep information coming. If I overstep, let me know. This is joint venture, and I don't want to step on anyones toes. Will send info at least weekly to let everyone know how we are progressing. Thanks, Sarah
