Comments: Good morning, my name is Jason A. Coppola and I am US Army Veteran who served in Afghnaistan as an Infantryman in 2006 with CTARNG 1-102nd Infantry attached to 10th Mountain 3rd Brigade. I am seeking anyone who may have served with my deceased uncle. His name is Francis "Frankie" Musto and he was drafted into the US Army on 3 MAY 1967 from Connecticut. He was discharged on 4 DEC 1968 from the US Army Personnel Center Oakland,CA. I received his military information and documents from the National Personnel Records Center St. Louis,MO. According to these documents, Frank served with Trp E 1st CAV 11th INF BDE and the 11th ARMOR CAV REGT. According to his records, he was enroute to USARPAC on 26 SEP 1967 to Trp E 1st CAV 11th INF BDE as an Armor Intel Spec. On 7 NOV 1967 he was a Sr. Scout Observer with TRP E 1st CAV 11th INF BDE. On 6 DEC 1967 he was still a Sr Scout Observer with TRP E 1st CAV 11th INF BDE. On 13 MAR 1968 he was enroute to 11th ARMOR CAV REGT as a SR Scout Observer. On Decemeber 1968 he was enroute to CONUS. His decorations included Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart with 1 Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Ribbon W/Device 1960. Sorry to ramble on but I am hoping someone will read this and have served with him and have known him. I am doing this for our military family tree and to preserve his military information for his oldest surviving sibling, my Uncle Butch. Frankie was the reason I decided to serve and I like him, was wounded in combat and earned the CIB. He had died in 1994 so he never knew that I served. Anyways, if someone would like to contact via me email that would great. Thank you all very much for your service to our country and Welcome Home! I appreciate all of you!!!

Comments: Leonard, I believe I responded to William Anderson in an e-mail. The song "10,000 Miles From Home" was written and sung by James D. (Big Jim) Holt, How Btry, 1/11, 1967-1968. Jim wrote some of the lyrics in Vietnam and added to the song over the years. Jim recorded the song as part of the Blackhorse Salute. Jim passed away in July 2011.

Comments: William E Anderson posted an entry on Feb 20, 2014 asking if anyone had the lyrics to the song that was sung at previous reunions that has the words, "Lord I'm 10.000 miles away from home......In Vietnam, in Vietnam."
Did anyone over respond or does anyone have the words available.
